MSG Finale Flag Report, a.k.a., Yes, that flag was THE Flag.

Postby Kim on 19 Aug 2008 03:39

Fuckin' A! I just read this all now. Incredible!!! DM, you rock!!!!! Thanks for uniting us all with the flag and giving Stewart a great souvenir. I admit I would like to see a photo of him with the flag. The last flag bearer! I hope you all have recovered. I just now am finally starting to feel better after being sick for 3 weeks. Sheesh.

Can you imagine? How much would that rock??

Wow,

What an exciting story.

With a perfect ending.

The decor is totally devoted to momentos from his travels and family and things that he loves, so for Flaggie to be in there is really QUITE an honor.

A little drum-tech birdie gave me some notable info about some of the gear in his studio:

The cymbal on the floor beside the bass drum is the Blue bell minus the colorsound coating. He used that for tour rehearsals at the Magic Stingdom. It's pretty much a 22" Dark metal ride. That's the cymbal he picked out to use for Tourzilla and came up with the blue finish later on. The green colorsound cymbal is what's on his drum kit in the photo. The kit is a special edition set, custom-made exclusively for Stew. It's made of Bubinga wood with an outer ply of quilted Bubinga, finished in Volcanic Sunburst color-coat.

Tama, you might want to stick that cool info over here where the photos/drum questions are:

Hey, don't apologise mate. I know very, very little about the technicalities (I was drooling over the non-drum-related wood), but this...

"It's made of Bubinga wood with an outer ply of quilted Bubinga, finished in Volcanic Sunburst color-coat."

....sounds simply marvellous.

Plus, can't you just picture bella repeating "bubinga" right now?

I just like the idea of picturing Tamadude presenting Stewart's studio accouterments in a posh interior designer's voice.

I'm kinda digging smudge's bash-ting-wash-rest performance of "bubinga" up there myself.
