:P As somebody who HATES reality shows I missed the whole thing so was surprised saddened relieved that your posting was so entertaining and with all the details in a 5 minute read - my trips to the gym were more beneficial and I didn't miss a thing - except you of course!!!! Ah well - once a rock star ALWAYS a rock star - glad some people don't know who you are - I see the odd rock star around going about their own business - makes it more worthwhile -you are all normal after all and when you surprise people about the influence you've made - it makes people feel you are more approachable!!! While I'm on here - I ADORE percussion so thanks for all you have done to inspire me and to re kindle my love for it!!!!

Stewart my old china, you are one of my dinner stories.

Back in 1982 ish, I was working for Sony Video and TV as a salesman. Great job at the time. Anyway, late one afternoon a call came in to the office for one of our Digital component video systems, it allowed you to record music digitally (well why would you wanna do that), as I lived near High Wycome (Uxbridge actually, I still do)I drew the short straw, short as no one knew how to use it to record music digitally. They felt that I was best placed to do this, not because I was technical, but I liked music, the others were well into films. I think the company was called Bell Music at Bledlow Ridge.

When I arrived, I was met by a pack of growling and snarling Dobermans, a guy had them on leads but I was not keen on getting out of the car for fear of loosing my backside to some hefty choppers. Eventually, the guy coaxed me out of me motor. When he led me into the house, I was gobsmacked as you were sitting there waiting for the gear. You were recording a sound track for a new TV series Exterminator I think.

I was a quivering wreck, not beacuse of the dogs but I have always been a huge fan of the Police. I spouted out something like Oh My God, I am one of your biggest fans, (how un cool was that). Whilst me and your mate, whos name I do not remember set the digital recorder up, you made me a cup of camomile tea. I drank it without complaining but yuck it was no Darjeeling.

Whilst we were having Tea you chatted to me about the band, there was a lot of the bands equipment in the room. You told me about the Exterminator project etc. Afterwards we filled in all the paper work, you gave your job description as "working for the people" what a Poser, but I was still impressed. I have to say that day was one of the most memorable events in my life. I was 22 at the time. Next day back at the office, the guys thaought I had made the story up, who cares. Today I can remember it as if it was yesterday.

last year I took my 20 year old son to see you at Twickenham Stadium, he is also a big fan (he is not allowed to touch my LP's though) we were in the middle of the Pitch. Thank god for Video screens, I am only five feet six and would not have seen anything if it was not for the screens. The Band sounded fantastic.

Now my son is in a rock band and although they play all their own music, the only cover they do is Roxanne, which goes down a treat in Camden and Islington.

Anyway, I am sure this is going to bore the pants off everyone else reading this blog. So I will say no more.

Cheers for getting the Police back together, dont give it up, we cant wait for the next big tour, Ill buy stilts for that one.

Cheers again.
The awfully Nice Sony man (as the advertising used to say).

Spikey. (Bill)

Cool the planet

You would need more than a rain coat, a boat and sand bags needed these days.

What we need is a cool new album to reduce the global temprature.

WELL!

After having had the fortune of seeing these shows, I can only tell that Stewart's Tale is totally Hysterical once you see the characters, and boy, is he fucking right on each and every one

It must have been a hoot for him to foray into this type of ludicrous contest.
I bet that an "uncensored" version of his comments would have been so funny to roll on the floor!!

Thank you (you know who you are) for letting me enjoy this particular dinner tale even more!!!! :D :D :D :D :D
